The show continues to recover its footing after some episodes I certainly wasn’t enjoying as much. But now Pride is back being the adorably dense protagonist she’s always been and this arc is closing in on its conclusion. There was just a lot of fun to be had in how Pride was constantly making everyone almost fall over from how adorably dense she is. As we’re seeing…this girl could lead her people into any given conflict and they’d happily follow her.
Pride really has no idea how devastating she can be! Poor Arthur’s heart was going to stop! Can’t be saying things like “you’re MY knight” to a guy that’s in love with her like that. Getting that possessive line from Pride is frankly better than any reward possible for saving that King’s life! Especially since it is just purely cute and instinctive. Stale was just messing around. But Pride was so rattled by the idea of someone taking Arthur from her that she couldn’t help herself.
To say nothing about her hugging Stale moments later! Just absolutely putting the guy’s heart through a workout there. It just shows how precious she considers him to be sure. But at the same time…it’s really quite tough on him to have her be to oblivious about what she’s doing.
Honestly I just hope that someday Pride will get over her dense protagonist nature and realize how things are. It’s way too obvious how important she is to people, especially Stale and Arthur. They aren’t exactly being subtle about being in love with her. Just not as outright aggressive as some other characters! But she’s just driving these guys insane and it’s kind of unfair to their mental states!
She really just has no awareness whatsoever! I can’t even say it’s because she’s too wrapped up in how evil the game version of herself was. Because she’s not that obsessed with it these days. The girl is just a really dense protagonist! Everyone when seeing her in that armor and ponytail was losing it and not being subtle as to why. But could she remotely tell? Nope!
As if Pride’s kingdom couldn’t get any more OP than they already were! Of course they have motorcycles! At this point they could bring out mechs and I’d only be somewhat surprised. Ok, they aren’t actually going to do that right!? Admittedly I’m not sure how much of their tech was shown off in S1, it’s been a while since I rewatched it. But it feels like this was a bit of a surprising turn. But if nothing else it’s a reminder that this is a world that’s a big mix of magical, ancient, but mixed with modern elements. You know…like how some visual novels very much are!
This was actually a pretty good showing for Cedric. For once Pride wasn’t really the main focus of everything. Her forces of course got them to Yohan, but it really was all Cedric to getting him to see reason. The guy just broke under the situation and lost hope. That’s understandable, but that just meant it was best for Cedric to handle it. Not like Cedric hadn’t reached some low points in this arc either. But for that reason he could reach out to Yohan who basically was just waiting for he and his people to be massacred. Pushing away their allies in the hopes of them being spared from the horrors to come. A foolish idea since there’s no way this attack would just end with his people, but people aren’t always reasonable. Good on Cedric for not giving up and pulling Yohan back from the brink.
This was definitely another solid episode for the show. It just felt like we were getting back to what works so well. Lot of fun with Pride’s romantic madness as she drives the men around her completely insane! But beyond that we get a cute scene of her and Tiara. It was a cute scene of her saying how each of the guy’s in her life would behave if they were the prince in the story of Cinderella. And the war is closing in. I’m not 100% sure the fighting will actually happen next episode (I thought it would happen in this one). But at the very least we are getting close to some Pride action.
