The aftermath of the “food incident” was honestly pretty minor. The bigger thing was just the consequences of Pride’s nation doing some natural investigation. Cedric’s situation on the surface looked very suspicious and it was no wonder that the Queen was looking to put a freeze onto negotiations until there was time to find out whether Cedric was luring them into a trap or not. He obviously wasn’t, but it would be hard to tell on the surface. But after enough provoking Cedric did step up and do what was necessary. Thankfully…Pride’s mother is a pretty reasonable Queen.

Ummm Pride…

I’ll admit this was one time I was thinking “wait a second Pride.” She is right that Cedric didn’t have time to protect himself. That he was going to blow a golden opportunity to save the people he cared about. That’s all completely true. But…it feels a bit hypocritical! Pride for several years has sat on the truth and refused to share it with anyone. She hasn’t told a soul from her sister, to her love interests, to her parents about what’s really going on with her. I fully get that especially in the past it would’ve been hard to convince anyone by simply saying she had memories from a past life when this was a game world. It’d require a bit of finessing to explain things. But she hasn’t even thought about doing that. And she has the nerve to criticize someone for not being completely honest? Really!?

This girl doesn’t go through an arc without lying about her game knowledge under the excuse of “I had a vision.” Again, visions are the most BS power that can exist since no one can prove that she’s not just making things up unless it doesn’t happen. After all this time Pride still can’t bring herself to open up to the people who trust her the most and are closest to her. And she’s shocked that Cedric is hesitant to lay all the cards on the table to complete strangers?

I just wanted to see some Tiara here

It’s be fine and preferable if Pride was simply mad at him for not being good at this. Because while she has been lying to everyone from the moment she ended up in Pride’s body…she’s mostly been good at deceiving them for everyone’s benefit. Well minus those first few years when she was unable to fully hide how terrified she was of Game Pride or basically asking Stale and Arthur to take her down if she ended up evil. That worked out great regardless because she’s cute and there wasn’t an immediate crisis. But again, I’d be completely onboard if Pride was just mad at Cedric for doing what she was doing but not as well.

I’d be fine if things remained a bit strained

Part of me hopes they can keep things the way they are between Cedric and Pride. It makes her pretty human to have a love interest and route that she’s not a fan of. Going against the common player of this game in her world and just hating his story. All the more so since his route being so popular kind of shows that Cedric wasn’t wrong. His good looks are enough to carry him in the hearts of a lot of people! Pride just wasn’t that type of player.

Although another part of me is waiting for Pride…to feel some pity. Most times she’s absolutely a mess thinking about how downright evil Game Pride was. But she hasn’t given a thought to how horrific that version of Pride was to Cedric or what horrors resulted. In some ways I guess Pride didn’t have to do much anyways. But man, that must’ve been quite the situation. Cedric basically turned to an evil empire to help save his country from…a different evil empire. Seriously…Pride probably did lead her armies out and just took over his country instead!

Off to war…just not against Cedric

This was a solid episode really. I didn’t quite love it like some other episodes since I couldn’t get away from feeling like Pride didn’t have the room to criticize that she clearly felt she did. But it still moved the story forward and revealed the immediate issue facing Cedric and his homeland. And this time it won’t be a minor political maneuver that will settle things. It’s going to straight up require military intervention. That should be plenty of fun!
