Score: B+

I welcome back this absurd series. It certainly won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s just the right kind of absurd for me. They chose a good means of pulling us back into the story and re-introducing the characters. In a sense they even introduced characters we didn’t get much of in S1 since most of the Grieving Souls were on various missions (and I presume still are). It was just a good chance to get to see what made this group so intensely dangerous even as kids. I can only imagine what situations Krai is going to unintentionally drag himself and his friends into. This guy is cursed to always make the choice that will create the most chaos.

Tino was a bit much

Admittedly this wasn’t Tino’s best episode. Her deifying of Krai wasn’t really an issue in S1. She loves the man and hypes him up at every opportunity. But she rarely ever got to the point where she was actively harassing people with her stories. People felt actively trapped in this episode! It was nice to see how she met Krai and her role in the episode was really solid. You could feel her terror as she was running away from these people that were far stronger and faster than her. But modern day Tino was…a bit frustrating. I get she was hyped over the 5th year anniversary of meeting Krai…but tone it down a bit! At least her thighs are still the MVP of this whole franchise!

This group is intense!

It’s just kind of insane how deadly this group was even as kids. Luke didn’t knock the weapons out of those guy’s hands. He knocked their arms off! OFF! With a wooden sword! It was a bit covered up with how they portrayed it, but it was still brutal. I honestly can’t wait for Luke to show up again in the present day. That guy must be terrifyingly dangerous at this point. We can already see how Liz is! But still, it was kind of nice seeing this group before they reached their peak of madness. They were still a bit extreme even in the flashback, but they didn’t seem that far gone.

Probably Krai’s most intentionally kind move in putting that cover back over the kidnapped kids while his friends absolutely massacred that group of slave traders! And since they were slave traders that specialized in kids…no mercy required. Fair enough that Krai made sure to cover his own eyes with his mask since he probably didn’t want to see how messy that was going to be! Gark had no idea what trouble he was in for when he said he’d take responsibility for their actions!

Another group annihilated!

This was mostly just an episode to get us back into the flow of the series. A good choice for a place to put a little flashback episode to be sure. It does leave me hoping that we’ll get to see the full team assemble this season. The two sisters were a blast and I had no problem with them being the ones we got in S1. But this group has a lot of members and it’d be fun to see what kind of people they are in the present day. Not sure that I’ll cover this second season, but I definitely wanted to talk about this episode!
