Another episode in the adventures of the absolute delinquent that is Monica! It honestly was a cute episode just throwing Monica effectively on a date with Felix and raising quite a few questions along the way. I’m increasingly interested in seeing how things play out with Felix and what reveals we might get before this series ends.
Might as well just jump in with the Prince. There’s too many questions regarding him at this point. He’s the only person one of the seven sages (The Starseer Witch) who’s stars she can’t read. That’s pretty darn noteworthy alone. But beyond that there are more layers to it. Same with the insistence of being called Ike during this date and the talk about him not really existing. There’s just too much there and it’d be shocking if there wasn’t a twist regarding his identity.
The obvious conclusion is that Felix isn’t really Felix. Whether he’s a body double or someone that was “adopted” to replace Felix after he died I’m not sure. But it seems safe to say he’s playing a role and faking it as much as Monica is pretending to just be a normal student. Might explain him being so comfortable heading out by himself, keeping things casual with Monica during their date, and having some connections to some “interesting” contacts. If he isn’t the real Felix that still makes him plenty interesting. Is he doing this for the sake of the original or because he wants to accomplish something so badly and only royal authority will get him what he wants? I don’t know. But there’s clearly a story to be told with him.
This episode showed a lot of Monica’s overall growth. While her claim to be a delinquent was hilarious, it said a lot that she could even throw out a silly lie like that. She didn’t nearly stumble over her words as much. And I like the fact that Monica seems troubled by her inability to express exactly what she wants to. Monica isn’t simply going with the flow and instead is showing a drive to change and improve. She even sweetly got across that she didn’t need Felix to buy her an accessory. The chestnuts he picked up for her were more of a treasure than any gem. For Monica that’s a pretty good move.
Once again, have to say that I love Isabella. She’s such a fun character and you can see how far she’s gone to back up Monica on her mission. But even with all of that…she just wanted to go out and enjoy a festival with Monica. Lana is a great friend for Monica to have and she’s one that can be open about it. But Isabella isn’t lacking in wanting to be there with/for Monica. In that sense I felt bad for her when Monica revealed she had other plans and couldn’t go with her. But again, it showed Monica’s growth that she recognized how Isabella felt and suggested going to a different even in the future. I hope they do get that opportunity someday.
This was a solid episode and we can see where the next one is going. That idiot criminal obviously got hammered by the curse of that ancient magical tool. He’s a guy and that thing has some real issues with men. Good luck to Monica! She’s got to balance keeping an eye on the Prince while not being too obvious about being the Silent Witch. That’s easier said than done of course. Monica is clearly going to be pressed into hunting for the magical item while balancing it with her bodyguard duties. It’s a bit sad to think that this show is one episode away from ending. But I hope it ends on a strong note so we can all look back on it with a smile.
