Score: A-

Here arrives the show I expect to be the most absurd fun of the season! The isekai genre has gone a variety of direction from the classics like Mushoku Tensei to quirky ideas like being reincarnated as a vending machine. There’s also been a lot of dull stuff that takes the general idea and doesn’t do much with it. But this show at least is going full fun with the idea. Forget dropping some random office worker into a fantasy setting and giving him OP powers. How about sending a freaking Power Ranger into a fantasy show with all his stuff and just letting that craziness unfold!? Yes, please!

The man is on fire!

Red is truly a riot. He’s all in on every cliche and the stereotype of the Red Ranger. He’s all about bonds, friendship, and the power of good. Even getting dropped into a fantasy world for 6 months hasn’t remotely dampened his passions. Being able to go around and help people has in fact just kept him in a great mood. He would like to go home, but he’s also seeing that his presence in this world may be important. People need saving no matter what world they live in. And his positive energy already had a great impact on someone like Yidhra.

Also, I will apologize now for going with the western naming of Power Rangers stuff instead of more tokusatsu centered naming. I just have a lot of nostalgia growing up with a variety of Power Ranger series and my fingers are just naturally going with those terms rather than grabbing anything else. But will at least promise to be as hyped about this show as possible while typing!

KO!

It really didn’t take long for Yidhra to fall for Red either. She was swooning by the end of the episode! It does make sense of course. He’s almost completely outside her understanding with all those different weapons. He’s pretty darn reliable. But beyond that he doesn’t just accept her dreams, but fully supports them. Red even takes it to the extreme of throwing great lines like having fallen for her dreams or having come to this world to meet her! All the body contact didn’t hurt either. No shock that she was practically begging to team up with him just so she can spend more time with him. And that only earned her even more of his trust!

The only worry I have for her is that if she does reach her goal of sending him back…then what? Yidhra obviously won’t be leaving her home since she has a long-term dream of helping with magic. Even if she can take her magic with her to Earth it isn’t as necessary for her to do so. With Red I could see it going either way. He could choose to stay and see this world as the one that needs him most. Though if her magic is useful he might at least appease his desire to see his friends again. The real question is whether she gets past his main character passion to get him to see her on a romantic level…

This is what I needed!

This episode was just plain fun though. I loved how many of his items he pulled out during this episode. It was getting to the point where I was thinking “whoa there, save some for the rest of the show!” He just had everything you could ask for from tools to fly, fiery punches, blades, guns, and even a Megazord! Red was just spoiling us with how many different ways he could wreck his foes. The one consistency was that something was going to blow up afterwards. Whether it was the space behind him when transforming or his enemies once he was done destroying them! I kind of love that he ends up ruining all the drops from the monsters because they blow up! And I got all I could ask for with Red and Yidhra fighting a dragon with a mech!

Be careful when transforming!

If nothing else this show is just going to be pure enjoyment. We got to start off with a battle against evil and ended this episode with a new party forming. There’s too much good stuff for me to keep up with covering it this season, but I am totally going to keep watching!
