Time for another romance show involving sisters! Unlike with the Quintuplets we’re going down to 3 this time! And with it being a 2-cour series that should give plenty of time to develop the girls and the main character. I think the show did a solid job setting things up and letting us get to know the main characters. It was a good move to leave the marriage stuff off the table until the end of the episode. No point throwing that on the characters right away. Instead let them get comfortable and overcome some drama before they suddenly have to think about the future!

Probably will be the main heroine

This does feel like a case where the main girl is obvious. I’m curious to see if this will be a bit more unpredictable than that though. Yuna seems like the most obvious choice for the story to run with. She’s the middle child, a tsundere, and about the same age as Uryuu. She also got the most development with him in the first episode. That may have been unavoidable since tackling the sister most hostile to him even being there was kind of necessary. I’m not against Yuna being the end girl of the show since she’s perfectly fine and plenty passionate. But it could be a bit too predictable and if nothing else the story really needs to sell Asahi and Yae as romantic partners.

We’re probably not going to get any firm answers even with this being a 2-cour series. The manga is still releasing and I suspect that there will be no choosing of the final girl until the story is about to end. But that just means they’ll have plenty of time to flesh each of them out and still have room for whatever supporting cast this story is going to be giving us.

Yeah, that’s an origin story

I did worry a bit with Uryuu having that blowup over praying to the gods. Mostly since I did think he was being a jerk. It’s not like they were putting everything into that basket. But they’d already searched, it was late, and better to at least do something while waiting for the next day to try looking again. But of course, it was fueled at least from a believable source. Losing his mother would leave a pretty dark view on the world. It is ironic in some ways though. Prayer didn’t work so he’d given up on that. But medical science clearly didn’t save his mother either, but he’s going to work like a maniac to become a doctor?

I get it to a degree of course. Studying medicine is at least something he can proactively do and he can try to take that sort of threat into his own hands next time instead of leaving it to others. It is funny of course that he’s now being pushed to marry one of these sisters and inherit the shrine! It’s not what he was intending to do, but it’s also kind of what he wants to do. Between medicine and faith, he chose medicine and has worked towards that. But he’s now in a position to inherit the faith side of it and try to make a positive impact through that. I fully expect him to refuse to inherit the shrine and still focus on medicine, but I’m also sure he won’t be getting away from the marriage topic!

She’s going to be the best girl

My favourite character is probably going to be Asahi. That girl is a total imp, but she’s also the most level-headed of the bunch. There’s enough maturity there that she feels free to mess around with things like looking for Uryuu’s porn stash. While her sister is considering the option that Uryuu was kidnapped by spirits she was able to calm things down. Asahi also had more faith that things would work out fine between Yuna and Uryuu since they had plenty in common. The interesting thing will be seeing what actually gets under her skin. Right now, she seems like the character that is in complete control of everyone and able to run the show to her liking. If nothing else she’ll also just be fun as someone mischievously playing into the little sister troupe.

I’ve got no complaints about the other two of course. Yuna is a solid tsundere even if I’m not that attached to her right out of the gate. I’ll be curious to see Yae develop since she’s the oldest of them, but can be a bit airheaded at times. But I think all three have the potential to be good characters. There’s going to be a reason for Uryuu to get attached to each girl and hopefully be left extremely troubled in actually having to make some decision by the end of it.

The girls are nice

I’m glad the missing string. It was certainly divine intervention that got it back in their hands at the very end XD. I like that the search did put them all in the right place and allowed for some nice visuals to play out. Uryuu can break down the science of everything and that’s fine. But there’s something to be said about simple beauty. True miracle or just coincidence, the beauty remains the same regardless. I am curious to see how Uryuu will handle interacting with these girls going forward. Here’s hoping that it will be solid in terms of giving each of them a fighting chance. It’d be kind of tough to watch this harem play out without any doubt on which way it’ll go. But no matter how it plays out it should be a nice show to watch.

He did try to avoid this

No idea how good this show will end up being, but this was a positive start. This season is probably too packed for me to actually pick it up, but I did want to talk about the first episode if nothing else. Yae is a nice older sister, Yuna is a fiery tsundere middle sister, and Asahi is a mischievous little sister. Each of them is pretty distinct despite them all being shrine maidens. I hope this shrine maiden romance will be strong. At the very least it seems like they’ve all got strengths and charms to them. And that even includes the lead. He can be a bit of a pain at times, but he’s also sensible enough to avoid opening doors when girls are clearly changing behind them! Not a complete fool.
