Funimation has confirmed that they have licensed the home entertainment, digital, merchandise, and mobile rights for the Ga- Rei Zero anime series from Kadokawa, and plan to release the complete series on Blu-ray and DVD in early 2010! …Continue Reading

“The announcement last Friday after the airing of the first streamed episode by FUNimation of Dance in the Vampire Bund has caused quite a stir. From Friday afternoon to Monday morning, there were six hundred posts about the topic that covered quite a lot of ground about the edits being done to this newly licensed series, both for the streaming version and the eventual home video DVD and Blu-ray releases of the show that is currently airing in Japan.”

“FUNimation knew what they were getting into with it. Fans know they’re not getting the show as originally presented and they’ll make their decisions off of that. Buying an edited release is the individuals choice and we have zero issue with that, though we do believe that censorship in any form must be spoken out against. What I do recommend is that if you do refuse to buy this show because of the edits, support the company that is releasing this title unedited in its original form by getting the manga. A spike in manga sales will show more than simply not buying the title in DVD/BD form.”

What say you about this manner of censorship?

FUNimation® Entertainment has acquired digital, broadcast, home video and merchandise rights to the fantasy anime series “Baka and Test — Summon the Beasts” (known in Japan as Baka to Test to Shokanju) and the supernatural action anime series “Dance in the Vampire Bund” and the from Media Factory. The agreement gives the American anime leader exclusive rights to the online streaming and simulcast of both series in the U.S.

Starting this month (March), FUNimation will deliver high-quality, free, original Japanese dialogue accompanied by English subtitles, streaming episodes of “Baka and Test – Summon the Beasts” and “Dance in the Vampire Bund” via www.funimation.com, just days after airing on Japan’s TV Tokyo and Chiba TV, respectively.

During my usual round of looking for new anime releases on Anime-Suki, I found something rather disturbing… That BayTSP was tracing I.P Addresses on Public Torrent trackers and then sending DMCA C&D letters to ISPs for downloading “unliscensed” anime on behalf of ANIPLEX. …Continue Reading

If you haven’t already heard by now, Funimation recently got three title licenses for itself. Namely, D.Gray-man, RomeoXJuliet and Shigurui

Well Romeo X Juliet was pretty expected, since Gonzo actually asked Funimation to represent them and send C&D letters to the fansubbers subbing the series while it was airing. (Not that it worked, we still got the series subbed in the end, hah!)

D.Gray-man I’m officially worried about. It’s recently started getting REALLY good, and it’s one of those cool ongoing series like Bleach (I refuse to mention Naruto because currently it’s just… sad). I hope the Funimation license doesn’t mess with the fansubbing…

I still haven’t watched Shigurui… I may grab the dub when it comes out, if it’s good… (which it almost never is)

Oh and Sorry for the lack of updates. I have exams currently, so yeah *insert exam excuse here*. I tried to get Amar to cover for me, but the yeah… instead of covering for a friend, he’s probably messing around in Flash… *sigh* Gotta love our dependable friends XD
