It is with great sadness that we report that Madhouse Director Satoshi Kon, who brought us great works like Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, and Paprika, has passed away.
Satoshi Kon passed away yesterday at the young age of 47. Jim Vowles of Otakon.com (Official Website for the Otakon Convention, where Satoshi-san was frequently a guest) confirmed it with Mr Maruyama at Madhouse. The madhouse team is very sad about this news, as are so many anime fans. Our heart goes out to his family and friends and their extreme loss. It is indeed, a sad day for the anime industry as well, as it loses one of its most accomplished and veteran directors.

From Anime News Network:
The Comics Worth Reading blog reports on a statement issued by Nick Simmons, the artist of Incarnate comic book series, regarding the alleged plagiarism of Tite Kubo’s Bleach manga:
“Like most artists I am inspired by work I admire. There are certain similarities between some of my work and the work of others. This was simply meant as an homage to artists I respect, and I definitely want to apologize to any manga fans or fellow Manga artists who feel I went too far. My inspirations reflect the fact that certain fundamental imagery is common to all Manga. This is the nature of the medium.
I am a big fan of Bleach, as well as other manga titles. And I am certainly sorry if anyone was offended or upset by what they perceive to be the similarity between my work and the work of artists that I admire and who inspire me.”
Head over to the forum to discuss the allegations and Nick’s comment at the forum, here.

After months and months of work, Anime Evo version 3 is finally released with a contest to boot! …Continue Reading

Alright so, if you’ve noticed, Anime Evo has been pretty much dead lately, with little no updates anywhere. The reason for this is that I recently had a HDD failure, and lost my data for the Layout .PSDs and the extra content I had done.
I am going to try and attempt to retreive the data. Failing that, I will be updating Anime Evo with a brand new, spaking version 3. The WordPress and Blogs will be updated to their latest versions, and will be integrated into the site more fully.
We also have a ton of reviews ready for the recently finished shows (and those that are about to finish). We’ll have those up soon too, along with some other neat stuff that I’m not ready to reveal yet.
Rest assured that we are working on the site, and that content is pilling up while I struggle to fix the issue that’s happened. It’ll take me a few more days to get back on my feet.
I hope everyone’s watching White Album, Toradora! and To Aru No Majutsu no Index. These are the best shows of the current season, and I’m enjoying watch these three.

It’s a sad day for D.Gray-man fans, as the latest episode, 102, has announced in it’s preview that the next episode (103) will be the last episode of the series.
Confirming what a lot of people have been suspecting for quite some time. D.Gray-man’s anime is really catching up to the manga, and it was either the series ending or going back on fillers. Since we know how well fillers turned out for the show in its very early days, the Production Staff has wisely decided to end the series after the latest arc completes.
We can only hope that D.Gray-man will get a Second Season, as this anime has been in our Weekly Top 5 for AGES, and is good enough to rival heavey hitters Bleach and Naruto.
Ah well… All good things must come to an end. At least the manga’s still running… right? XD
