This could easily be the cutest show of the whole season. Alma is adorable and if something terrible happened to her I would unleash such rage as a result! Thankfully that’s not happening in a show like this. At most there will be an adorable mech girl battle or maybe some very mild drama. Which is fine by me. This show should be a steady source of cute moments and a bit of relationship drama between the newly anointed parents!
There’s just no hiding anything from Alma. Well at least they’ve managed to keep details on human reproduction hidden from Alma’s database! But they simply can’t hide the level of sexual tension that exists between them. Alma picks up on everything from their heart rates to their stress levels. In a lot of ways that’s a great thing. They can’t get away with even lying to themselves since they’ll get called out on anything too incorrect. And in some ways that lets each other know how the other feels. They won’t be graduating from their grade school romance anytime soon. But for now it will be fun just to see them get rattled on a regular basis.
It may not have stuck, but I got a good laugh from Alma using her tech to hack data and give her parents forged documents. This girl is crazy strong on an electronic warfare! It didn’t take much time at all to hack the government and to make her parents legally married! I suppose for the time being they’ve kept her from doing that again. But I still think it’s great that during their conversations she could quickly make that happen without any fuss. Also love the fact that Enji was more intrigued by the family benefits they get for having a kid than the whole marriage certificate thing! The best part of these two is how they can get locked in with tunnel vision. They do keep each other from going too far off the rails, even though I’m sure they’d deny such a thing.
Alma’s first errand was utterly cute. Parents have their concerns no matter what kind of kid they’ve got. It was fun that the biggest issue was that Alma might kill any creep that went after her. Not unfair considering how much weaponry they probably packed into her little body. It was just a nicely cute event with her helping out some foreigner and guiding him to where he could meet up with his family. The ice cream was sacrificed for that cause, but I think it was a just one! Plus it was kind of interesting to see the shock for Alma in having “failed” her mission. Artificial intelligence like her having to face failure made for an interesting little moment.
I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the utter cuteness that is this show. The good thing is that Alma isn’t carrying it alone. Her parents are rather fun in their own way. They’ll happily throw shade at each other, but still get a bit heated over sleeping a bit close to the other person! It’s a pretty standard move too to keep the story focused on just the main trio. After that they can start introducing supporting characters. It makes sense for the narrative as well. These two want to keep Alma a secret as much as reasonably possible. It might take a few more episodes before they are ready to take her to school. For the moment this cute family comedy can continue and go full steam ahead!
Not sure that I’ll cover this one, but I had to talk about it. Alma was too much fun to ignore for such a reason!
