Summary Key Points:
- Kuroko runs into Musujime Awake, another Teleportation user, while chasing some robbers
- Turns out that the Satellite that created the experiments for all the Misaka Doubles from Season 1, was destroyed and its parts are scattered all over
- Misaka attempts to stop the device from being completed by taking on Musujime, with Kuroko watching from behind
- The episode ends as Kuroko prepares to take on Musujime
With this episode, the new arc for Toaru Kagaku no Rail… I mean Toaru Majutsu No Index II begins. The duo of Misaka and Kuruko are there, along with Railgun regular Uiharu.
In many ways, this episode felt like an episode of Railgun, with Kuruko pretty much taking the stage, while Touma was shoved into the background. I’ll be honest, this annoyed me a bit, mainly because we’ve had a season of Railgun to go through all that. I was fine with it happening in Railgun, but honestly… here it seemed a bit out of place. I’m sure J.C staff is trying to keep their fans from Railgun entertained, but I was definitely a bit annoyed at what happened here because I’m expecting more Touma and Misaka stuff, not more Misaka and Kuruko stuff.
The good thing though, is that we’re revisiting the issue of the Misakas and the level 5 experiments from Season 1.The only issue is that, having sat through an entire season of Railgun, I feel like this is a bit too late. Its still good that they’re covering the aftermath of what happened and this will definitely be an interesting way to bring in Accelerator and the small MISAKA back into the world of Index.
The first episode may have been a bit Railgun centered, but what the arc does have the potential for, is some great character moments. We’re bound to see our good old level 5 User come into the swing of things soon, and of course, Touma is going to pop in sooner or later. I don’t think the entire arc will be bad, but I guess I did expect a bit more than this.
I kind of am starting to get worried, as this season of Toaru Majutsu No Index is starting to really feel like J.C Staff is putting their own original spin on a lot of the material, and in the process, making it lose its charm. I really hope this doesn’t continue, as I am starting to see a dip in story telling and plot for this franchise.
Hopefully next episode will change my mind, and make me go: “Darn… I was being too hard on that last episode”.
Things really heat up next week as Kuruko, Misaka Misaka, Misaka, Touma and even Accelerator are thrown into the mix of this latest conspiracy! See it next week!
