Great news for fans of Air  Gear! Last week’s issue of weekly Shounen Magazine announced that an Air Gear OAD is coming! The OAD will feature the fan favorite Trek battle between Ringo and Ikki (From Volume 16) and will come bundled with the Limited Edition copies of the manga’s 30th Volume.

Those hoping to see more of the same will be in for a bit of a shock, as Statelight will be handling the animation instead of Toei Animation. On top of that, a new voice cast is planned for the OVA, different from the original cast of the 2006 anime series.

Quite a few changes I see, especially with an entirely new staff for this production, its already being touted as a “high quality production”. Its also the first time fans will see Kururu animated! I’m personally quite excited as I always wanted to see the later parts of the manga animated. It doesn’t seem like we’ll get a second season while the manga is running, so I guess an OAD is better than nothing right? OVA/OAD’s do tend to have better animation and budgets though!
