Great news for fans of Toaru Majutsu No Index. The highly anticipated (and all but unexpected) season 2 of Toaru Majutsu No Index has been officially announced in the the July issue of Monthly Shounen GanGan magazine!

Hand in hand is the announcement of a PSP game, which will be a 3D Fighter, and is slated for this winter. The series itself will probably debut in either the winter season of 2010, or Spring 2010, or so we reckon. No official air date for the series has been confirmed.

For all the fans, this second season has been a long wait, and with a decent spin-off series to have kept us entertained (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun), its time for the return to Touma as the main character. For those of you who don’t know how awesome Toaru Majutsu no Index is, read our review and then watch the great show!

I am surprised that this announcement was made before a potential Shakugan no Shana Season 3. I guess that franchise is either going to get a season 3 after this series, or is going to be animated by a different team instead, in J.C Staff. Whatever the case, not like we here at Anime Evo are complaining, both are awesome shows!
