Gundam MG Force Impulse Gundam Scale 1/100

Basic Info:

“The ZAFT Mobile Suit that destroyed Kira Yamato’s Freedom Gundam in “Gundam Seed Destiny” now gets a Master Grade kit release! http://www.anime-evo.net/episodeblog/wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/wordpress/img/trans.gif

Sharply molded in color, the transformable Impulse Gundam is formed by three main parts: Chest Flyer, Core Splendor, and Leg Flyer. Core Splendor’s cockpit can be opened to insert an in-scale sitting pilot figure. In addition, landing gear are provided for both the Chest Flyer and Leg Flyer as a original gimmick that’s never seen in the anime! The Force Silhouette pack carried by the Silhouette Flyer can be attached to the back of the Mobile Suit to complete Force Impulse Gundam. Weapons include an anti-ship laser sword, a beam rifle, an openable shield, and two beam sabers.

Unpainted 1/100-scale figures of Shinn Asuka and Lunamaria Hawke (both molded in white) are packed in the set along with foil stickers, dry-transfer decals, and marking stickers to add detail to the completed model.” ~Credited to HLJ.com

Opinions:

Building this was nothing out of the ordinary, just slap it together and its done. Obviously you can paint it, but I haven’t done this yet, will start doing that with the 144 scales I will receive soon. (thats a topic for another post though…)

One thing I personally had a bit of a problem with, is the WORST waist joint EVER. Poke it and it will almost literary explode into four pieces =A=.

Also… The way the core splendor sticks into between the Leg flyer and the Chest flyer and the Force Silhouette is also a source of constant pain and frustration, since it can’t fit inside the tiny space without the removal of the topmost parts of the nose. >_>THIS is… IMO utter crap. There is also no real way to make the shield to stay in the “open” position.

Not really about this particular item, but to really get the most out of your Gundam models DO BUY an action stand, it really opens up more posing possibilities than on the floor.

Another thing that bothers me, is that the right wing on the Force Silhouette is a bit… loose, and tends to fall of or glide down 45 degrees.

All in all, its a good model, will entertain you for a few days. Mine took maybe 4 hours to build, and I was being rather sloppy about it, but it has its flaws, nothing that some super glue and some pinning wouldn’t remedy, but I prefer to not use it, to make it remain pose-able until I get my own action bases. The building, was a fresh experience for me. (I’ve mostly modeled airplanes and war hammers before this thing) It was rewarding because after each part the thing just kind of resembled what it should resemble directly.

Breakdown/Review Scoring:

Pros:

+ Solid colors.

+ A must for all Impulse fans.

+ Simpler to build then it looks.

+ Transformable (more like detachable, but still)

Cons:

- Some joints are evil.

- Uncolored eye lenses.

- Somewhat unstable ankles.

- Not really a stable thing in general, its like a bomb. If you’re not careful with it… It will fall apart. Then again its a positionable model, not a toy.

All in all, its a good… wait.. I said that already! >_>.

Its nice, not perfect, but nice and will probably take a weekend to complete if you are gonna paint it as well.

Overall Score: 7/10

~ Kaede out for now.
