Macross F Movie Coming

What is this latest trend of popular mecha series turning into movies? First there was Eureka 7, then Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and now Macross F.

For those of you that can watch RAW anime (lucky bastards! XD), you’ve already seen the last episode of Macross Frontier. In place of the episode preview was obviously a trailer for a new anime, but inbetween the ending and the preview, came the announcement:

“Macross F Theatrical Version Underway”

Not much else is known. Is this going to be a remake (My guess is so, since that’s what Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Eureka 7’s movies are doing) or is this going to be something new/original? I guess we’ll see when more info is announced.

But seriously… what is up with the anime industry now MILKING its popular franchises by releases movies of them XD
