Some franchises just REFUSE to die. “Ghost in the Shell” is one of those classic anime that have a huge fan following. It seems the franchise is taking another stab at increasing it’s popularity, with an “enhanced” version of the movie hitting Japanese Theatres on July 12th.
This new improvements include new computer graphics and digital effects, redone sound and voice work (for 6.1 surround sound), a new voice actor for the Puppet Master and even a new soundtrack.
Woah, it’s essentially a remake of sorts, just with the same scenes and story. Of course, my original gripe with the movie WAS the convulted and overly complex storyline. I’m not a fan of the movies, but rather more of a fan of the TV series, GITS: Stand Alone Complex. Still… I can’t deny that GITS the movie was a landmark in animation, and should be interesting to see this visual and audio upgrade.
I’m “guessing” we’ll also see “GITS version 2.0” release on Blu Ray Discs. I wonder which Localising company is gonna pick it up for the US?
