The third Season in the Higurashi franchise has been named!
Behold, Higurashi no Naku Koroni Rei!
The third season’s name is based on the fandisk of the same name, that included two story chapters based on the original murder mystery visual novels. While the name may be the same, there’s no hint of the anime following the plot of said fandisc.
The other interesting tidbit is that the third series is slated to be a “Original Video Anime Series”. A lot of high profile franchises are taking the “OVA” path these days, and I can’t exactly say I’m pleased with this.
